V O T E
During the next election when you are thinking
you are too busy to vote, remember this story:
The Quaker Peace Network-Africa sent four election observers to watch
the referendum vote for the independence of southern Sudan from Sudan.
They observed in an out of the way rural area (most international observers
were in Juba and the other larger towns).
One of the observers was Getry Agizah, the Coordinator of the Friends
Church Peace Teams (FCPT). She reported that in the place where they
were observing some voters walked for three days to reach their polling
station in order to cast their ballots for independence. I presume it
then took them three days to return home.
Peace,
Dave
